The Chancel Choir, directed by Allen Barbee, sings at the 11:00am worship service and is accompanied by Bill Callaway on the pipe organ and Becky Sanders on piano. The musical styles are varied and selections range from unison to eight-part harmony. Opportunities exist for solos and ensembles as well. Individual help is available to anyone interested in participating. This choir performs several special programs during the year, and rehearsals are each Wednesday evening at 7:30pm in the Sanctuary. A nursery is provided upon request. New singers are always welcomed!
Adult Bell Choir
Our Adult Handbell Choir provides a beautiful change of pace in our 11:00am worship service every 4-6 weeks and the occasional Wednesday Night Supper! Led by Allen Barbee, the choir performs on 4 1/2 octaves of handbells and 3 octaves of chimes. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings at 6:30pm in the Sanctuary, September through May, and a nursery is provided upon request. New ringers and substitutes are welcomed.
A very special group of our vocal women make up our Ladies Choir that performs special numbers during Worship Services and other programs at the church and in the community. Music ranges from sacred to secular. Join the ladies for fun-filled rehearsals on Monday afternoons 1:30-2:30pm September through May. New members are always welcomed, and Allen Barbee is the director of this group.
First Five Quintet
Five talented gentlemen come together with piano and sometimes bass and drums to sing good ol' church and gospel favorites. They bring their talents to Worship Services and other programs throughout the year at Chamblee First and in the community. Allen Barbee is the contact person for this group.
(ages K4 - 1st) rehearse on Wednesdays from 6:30- 6:55 p.m., September-May and they sing in worship 5-6 times. This group uses rhythm instruments and participates in two special programs yearly. Rehearsals are in the choir room, Room 215, on the second floor of the education building. Bobbi Matthews is the contact person for this group.
(Grades 2 -5) rehearse on Wednesdays from 6:55 - 7:30 p.m. September-May, and they sing in worship 5-6 times yearly. This group learns to rings bells and participates in two special programs yearly. Rehearsals are in the choir room, Room 215, on the second floor of the education building. Bobbi Matthews is the contact person for this group.
M.A.D. (music, art, drama) CAMP is held in the summer, usually the last week of July. Children in 2nd grade through 6th grade learn how to put together a complete musical in one week, Monday through Friday, 9:30 - 12:30pm, and present the finished work at an announced date and time. Also, 7th through 12th graders are invited to serve as counselors. Auditions for main roles are announced in the Spring. Bobbi Matthews is the contact person for this group.
The Live Nativity is an annual December outdoor drama with animals and all of the characters of the journey to Bethlehem and birth of Christ. The cast made of children, youth, and adults rehearses on Saturday morning, prior to the December 16th performance at 7:00 pm, and Kathryn Rodriguez is the contact person.
