Music & Drama

There are six music and drama groups at Chamblee First United Methodist, and new members are welcomed in all groups. For more details for any choir or drama group see the information below.

We would like to welcome Charlie Lynch as Music Director and Bobbi Matthews as Director of Children's Music!

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir sings at the 11:00 am worship service, accompanied by Bill Callaway on the pipe organ and Becky Sanders on piano. The musical styles are varied and most selections are four-eight part harmony. Individual help is available free of charge to less experienced singers who are interested in participating. This choir performs several special programs during the year, and Chancel Choir rehearsals are each Wednesday evening 7:30-8:45 pm. A nursery is provided upon request. The December 11 7:00 p.m. Christmas Cantata for 2011 will include several Handel Messiah Choruses plus the carol cantata, Come Ye Faithful. New singers are always welcomed. Charlie Lynch is the contact person for this group.

Adult Bell Choir

Our Adult Bell Choir provides a beautiful change of pace in our 11:00 a.m. worship service every 4-6 weeks. Led by Charlie Lynch, the rehearsals are on Monday evenings at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary, September through May, and a nursery is provided upon request. New ringers and substitutes are welcomed.

Ladies Choir

A very special group of our talented women make up our Ladies Choir that performs special numbers during Worship Services and other programs during the year. Music ranges from secular to sacred. Join the ladies for fun-filled rehearsals on Monday afternoons 1:30-2:30 September through May. New members are always welcomed, and Charlie Lynch is the contact person for this group.

Sonshine Singers

(ages K4 - 1st) rehearse on Wednesdays from 6:30- 6:55 p.m., September-May and they sing in worship 5-6 times. This group learns to ring bells and participates in two special programs yearly. Rehearsals are in the choir room, Room 215, on the second floor of the education building. Bobbi Matthews is the contact person for this group.

Celebration Singers

(grades 2 -5) rehearse on Wednesdays from 6:55 - 7:30 p.m. September-May, and they sing in worship 5-6 times yearly. This group also learns to rings bells and participates in special Wednesday night dinner programs in December and May. Rehearsals are in the choir room, Room 215, on the second floor of the education building. Bobbi Matthews is the contact person for this group.

Live Nativity

The Live Nativity is an annual December outdoor drama with animals and all of the characters of the journey to Bethlehem and birth of Christ. The cast made of children, youth, and adults rehearses on Saturday morning, prior to the December 18th performance at 7:00 pm, and Kathryn Rodriguez is the contact person.
